Jessie Cave is an actress, comedian, and artist who's best known for playing Lavender Brown in 'Harry Potter.' Her day job is her doodle shop where she sells hand-drawn, personalized versions of what she posts online.
Background
Cave was born on 5 May 1987, in London. Her father works as a general practitioner. Her mother, Deborah, is the daughter of former Chief Secretary to Hong Kong, Tasmanian-born Sir Charles Philip Haddon-Cave. She has three brothers including Ben Cave and one sister, Bebe Cave.
Education
Jessie Cave attended Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith for the sixth form.
She studied Illustration and Animation at Kingston University, London, and worked backstage in various theatres before deciding to pursue acting. She got a place at RADA to study Stage Management, but after watching some actors in rehearsal rooms she changed her mind and applied to drama school. Jessie was ready to go to The Oxford School of Drama when she got the part in Harry Potter.
In 2008, Cave made her acting debut in the drama Summerhill, shown on CBBC. It was announced that Jessie won the role of Lavender Brown in 'Harry Potter' on November 13, 2007. Cave obtained the role of Lavender Brown over 7,000 other aspiring contestants.
Jessie has a lead role in Buffering for Avalon / ITV2 and starred as regular Heather in Sky One's Trollied. Further drama credits include Call the Midwife for BBC 1, Black Mirror for Netflix, and Glue for Channel 4.
She is a talented stand-up who has had three critically-acclaimed and sell-out solo shows including Bookworm and I Loved Her. Her most recent show, Sunrise, has had several runs at the Soho Theatre and toured nationally in 2019. Jessie has featured on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Comedy Central's Roast Battle, and has recently filmed for Jon Richardson's Ultimate Worrier.
On the writing side, Jessie has scripted projects in development with Kudos and E4 and co-wrote the pilot Bump with Rick Edwards under Big Talk Productions. She has also had a book of illustrations published, titled Lovesick. Jessie is also writing her first novel Sunset.
Jessie Cave is a modern-day Penny Crayon, doodling incredibly relatable sketches for her Instagram feed and turning her work into a book of doodles called Love Sick, as well as performing her own material at Edinburgh Festival and now the iconic Soho Theatre. Jessie's illustrations sum up how confusing life and relationships can be with a hilarious honesty that makes you want to tag all your friends in the Instagram comments.

Quotations:
"I am trying to work out what my taste is, comedy-wise. I look up to stand up comedians who appear to be telling the truth, but I don't mind if they are lying."
"I am not comfortable telling people I am trying stand-up because to me that implies confidence. I'm - well, I'm not."
"My grandparents would never admit to being Tasmanian, but I think it's really great and funny. But I guess, in the past, Tasmanians just weren't quite accepted. You had that lazy reference to them being felons."
"Children who have been in work for a long time suddenly get a thud down to earth once the cuteness fades, hips widen, voices drop and jawlines strengthen."
"I grew up with 'Roseanne'; I kind of adore her and stuff like' Home Improvement', really traditional American stuff."
"Having done film, TV and theatre, the nicest final bit of the jigsaw is to do live comedy, because you can talk to the audience. It feels really natural to be able to laugh with them, but at the same time still be within the framework of a play."
Personality
Jessie is a former county swimmer and ex-national tennis player. Her tennis career was cut short by injury when she was 15. In August 2018 (in her show Sunrise) she revealed that she had been raped by her tennis coach at the age of 14.
