Silvestre is promoted by the former WBA (Super) & WBC Champion, Mexican Saúl Álvarez" company Canelo Promotions. On July 14, 2012 Silvestre won a twelve round decision over Mexican Edwin Díaz to capture the WBA World Minimumweight Interim Championship, the bout was held at the Auditorio Benito Juárez, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
