After baseball, Cosman worked in the waste management industry, as an executive for Browning Ferris Industries and as Chief Executive Officer of Republic Services until his retirement in 2000. A longtime resident of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, he died at his home in Roswell, Georgia at age 69.
