Crowell played in the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2007. In early January 2012, Crowell was outspoken against the use of slots in his resident of state Minnesota. Citing that the casinos are owned by local native american tribes, Crowell was quoted as "I don"t like it for my family, i don"t like it for this state.
The damn natives have been exploiting this states fine people for too long, I hope our representatives crack down on this thievery before this state turns into the damn Iroquois nation."
