Career
He is the co-director of TTT, thirtythreetrees, Limited in Dublin, Ireland, which is a landscape art and garden design practice. He formed the band, the Wounded Knees with former Mercury Rev flautist Suzanne Thorpe in 2001. Shields joined Rollerskate Skinny in the early 1990s as their drummer/guitarist/vocalist.
He played on, co-produced and wrote much of their 1993 Shoulder Voices LP, as well as on the Novice (1992), Trophy (1993), and Threshold (1994) EPs.
Shields left Rollerskake Skinny in 1994 and moved from Dublin to Chicago. While in Chicago, he formed Lotus Crown, and released Chokin" on the Jokes on Reprise Records in 1997.
Shields later worked with J Mascis and Martina Topley-Bird, and he recorded sessions with brother Kevin for My Bloody Valentine that have yet to be released. In 2008 the Wounded Knees released the "All Rise" European Parliament on limited-edition 10" brown vinyl and played a string of tour dates supporting the newly reformed My Bloody Valentine.
Established in 2004 by Jimi Shields + Maria Vlahos, TTT is a multi-disciplinary design practice, based in Dublin City, with a particular emphasis on landscape architecture and garden design installations.
TTT have collaborated with many internationally renowned architects, completed and contributed to various award winning projects and have exhibited widely. Including the Venice Architecture Biennale, 2010 with dePaor Architects. The practice is also commissioned for artworks.
TTT were awarded the Arts Council Architecture Project Award for 2011 and were awarded, by merit of their work, the first affiliate memberships to the Irish Landscape Institute in 2009.
Jimi Shields, graduate of the Dublin School of Architecture (DIT), has been invited to speak and teach at various universities including, University College Dublin School of Architecture, University College Dublin School of Landscape Architecture, Dublin School of Architecture (DIT), Queens University Belfast and UCC School of Architecture. Jimi has contributed writing to various publications.
He was previously known for his work with the band, Rollerskate Skinny.
