He opened a brothel at Hon-Yanagicho in Edo (1615). He and 25 other brothel operators were jointly permitted to occupy one block for their trade (1617). The block was situated at Fukiyamachi, where all courtesans of Edo were concentrated. This is the origin of Yoshiwara. Jin-emon became head of the five blocks constituting Yoshiwara
His elder sister was said to have been a concubine of Ujimasa Hojo. His family became extinct when Jin-emon III died. Jin-emon II was at first Jinnojo, a nephew of the first generation who was brought to Edo from Sumpu (Shizuoka City).
