(Activity surveys for people and households are becoming m...)
Activity surveys for people and households are becoming more widely used, but practical users are not ready to start over with activity-based models because any empirical validations of activity-based models are not available in many areas. Designed for travel demand modelers as wells students and practitioners, this book provides an incremental approach that is the use of an activity- based submodel for university data. This approach can potentially demonstrate better travel estimates overall in a regional model if successful such an approach demonstrate that activity-based approach are practical while preserving current investments in traditional travel models. In addition, this book provides a solid basis for suggesting that building level spatial-temporal models are possible and useful. The relative simplicity and accuracy of the models suggest that the additional level of detail can overcome many problems in aggregate models. This marks a significant contribution to the practice, as well as a timely subject.
