Akagawa was born on February 29, 1948 in Fukuoka, Japan. His father, Koichi Akagawa, is a former producer in Manchuria Film Institute.
He went to Toho High School for his graduation. In 1996 he was a visiting professor of Kanazawa Gakuin University Faculty of Letters.
Akagawa started his profession as a mystery author in 1976, and his first novel was distributed in the next year. Picking up ubiquity for his diverting riddles, Akagawa turned into a top of the line creator. Notwithstanding his 16 primary arrangements, he has composed different works, producing 10 to 20 books every year.
His most popular series were based on Holmes, the tortoiseshell looking cat, named as The Mikeneko Hōmuzu, in which a feline illuminates the secrets, is especially well known. Akagawa is known as a prolific Japanese author, who is an expert of the clever puzzle. In 1976, he got his first award for the novel of Ghost Train or known as the Yūrei ressha, was recompensed the All Yomimono Mystery Prize for New Writers. Akagawa hasn't shared much of his political interests or view publicly but truly believes in the power of equality for all without discrimination.
