Graduated from Junior College Department of Waseda University (1921).
Became lecturer at Takarazuka School of Music & Opera (1931), staff member of Kansai Branch of Japan Broadcasting Corporation ( 1934), director of Planning Section of Henseikyoku (Organizing Bureau) (1946), chief of Jisshibu (Operation Department) (1948) and then permanent director and chief of Organizing Bureau of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (1949). Holds additional posts of director of Japan Poets' Club and Albion Club, member of Management Committee of Tomin Gekijo (Tokyo Metropolitan Residents' Theater), expert adviser of Cultural Properties Protection Committee, member of Kokunai Iinkai (Internal Affairs Committee) of Japan UNESCO Association, permanent director of Kokusai Theater and councilor of Nihon PEN Club (Japan Association of Poets, Playwrights, Essayists and.Novelists).
