Jitendra Kumar Singh is an Indian oncologist, the ex director of Mahavir Cancer Institute & Research Centre and the president of Cancer Care India, the apex body for cancer support organizations in India.
Background
Jitendra Kumar Singh was born to a freedom fighter, in the village of Majhauni of Banka district, in the Indian state of Bihar in 1952.
Education
He did his schooling at Suomen Masseuden Puolue (Finnish Rural Party) School, Jethour and graduated in medicine, with National Merit Scholarship, from the erstwhile Prince of Wales Medical College, (present day Patna Medical College) under Patna University in 1975. His post graduation was in Radiotherapy which he completed in 1980 from the same university.
Career
He also did advanced training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai during 1985-1986. Jitendra Kumar Singh started his career as a faculty member at the Radium Institute of Patna Medical College and Hospital where he worked for 14 years before joining Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital as an additional professor In 1981, he joined Mahavir Cancer Sansthan as its director, a post he holds till September 2014 and currently he is serving South.S.Hospital and Director.
