Onko was a buddhist priest and founder of the Shingon Shohoritsu Sect.
Onko was born in 1718. He was the son of a clansman of the Takamatsu Clan (Kagawa Prefecture).
Onko desiring to propagate the true teachings of Buddha, he preached in many provinces and wrote many books, including a 10-point code of behavior for Court ladies. He founded the Kokiji Temple in Kawachi Province (Osaka Prefecture) and made it the headquarters of his sect.
