Background

Davis, Joan was born on June 29, 1912 in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States. Daughter of LeRoy and Nina (Sinks) Davis.

Education

Educated Public school and Mechanic Art High School, St. Paul, and by private tutors.

Career

December, 1947);On stage, radio and screen since 1919. In comedy act, Toy Comedienne, on Pantages Circuit, 1919. Began in pictures as hill billy in Way Up Thar, directed by Mack Sennett, 1934.

Since appeared in Millions in the Air, Love and Hisses, George White’s Scandals, Two Latins from Manhattan, Sweethearts of the Fleet. Starred in Yokel Boy. Co-starred with Abbott and Costello in Hold That Ghost.

Occupied guest spot on Rudy Vallee radio program. Toured with Serenus Williams (Si Wills) as Wills and Davis, 1931-1936. Her daughter occasionally appears on same radio broadcast as her “little sister Beverly”.
