In 1973 Joan received Bachelor of Arts at St. Olaf College. Then she earned Master of Arts at University of Minnesota in 1976.

Career

Joan developed her career as novelist, essayist, book reviewer, and author of short stories. She is also a contributor of numerous essays, short stories and book reviews to periodicals, including New York Times, Washington Post, Yankee, and Journal of Small Business Management.
