A personal account of how professional musicians go about the business of improvising within the context of the small jazz group. You get the collective perspectives of the leader and horn player (David Liebman),l the pianist (Richard Beirach), the bassist (Frank Tusa), the drummer (Jeff Williams)and the percussionist (Badal Roy), all of whom have been acclaimed by jazz critics for their work in the group known as "Lookout Farm." This is an advanced jazz treatise (not for beginners) featuring detailed "basic arrangements of music, and complete with sound sheets of the actual case-study recordings on a 45 record.
