After graduating from University of Oregon in Journalism. Unruh worked in entertainment news in Los Angeles, California for six years, where she hosted nationally syndicated shows for networks such as Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. Unruh then returned to Oregon, where she worked as an anchor-reporter in Bend for about a year before heading back to her hometown, Eugene, to work for KVAL-television
