He also raced in the 1996 Indianapolis 500, finishing 22nd. He was nicknamed "Double-O" Joe Gosek for his traditional use of car number "00.".

Achievements

• Gosek has won numerous races at the famed Oswego Speedway in Oswego, New York, including their biggest race the International Classic 200, which he has won 3 times. Gosek is also a multi-time season champion on the touring International Supermodified Association (ISMA) series.
