Joe studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, United States from 1947 to 1951. He recei9ved a degree of the Bachelor of Science. In this year he became a student of the Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, United States. In 1952 Joe received a degree of the Master of Science.
Career
A feature-length documentary was made about his life and successes, called The Long Green Line after his team's nickname. He was the first high school coach to hold such an honor. He was awarded the National Cross Country four times and has written four books, concentrating on training and motivation.
