(Jeremiah Reskin has big plans for tenth grade - he wants ...)
Jeremiah Reskin has big plans for tenth grade - he wants to make some friends and he wants to take a girl's shirt off. It's not going too well at first, but when he meets a group of semi bohemian outcasts, things start to change. Soon he's negotiating his way through group back rubs and trying to find the courage to make a move on Renee Shopmaker, the hottest girl in school. At the behest of his composition teacher, Jeremy's also chronicling everything in his own novel - a disastrously ungrammatical but unflinching look at the sophomore year.

Joe Weisberg was born as Joseph Weisberg about 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is the son of Bernard and Lois Weisberg. He has a brother, Jacob Weisberg.
Joe Weisberg was educated at Yale University and graduated in 1987.
Joe Weisberg, after studying in college, worked in the CIA's Directorate of Operations in the early 1990s. After leaving the agency, he began working as a teacher at The Summit School, a private special education high school in Queens, New York, the post he held until 2010. There he helped to found the school newspaper, The Summit Sun.
Before joining television, Weisberg became a novelist. Weisberg's first novel, Tenth Grade (2002), is structured as a journal kept by an average sophomore named Jeremiah Reskin who lives in an average New Jersey suburb called Hurst Falls. In this journal of Jeremy's coming of age, the reader hears his thoughts about important teenage firsts - his first experimentations with drugs and alcohol, his sexual initiation - and about such common experiences as hanging out with friends in the basement rec rooms and struggling to master Spanish. His second book, An Ordinary Spy (2008), is a novel about two embattled spies who go to extraordinary lengths to keep their informants out of harm's way, published as vetted by the agency itself.
Then he went on to pursue a career in television. He wrote episodes for TNT's alien invasion series Falling Skies and the DirecTV legal drama Damages. He then created The Americans, an FX series centering on two KGB agents who pose as American citizens in Washington, D.C., during the 1980s.
