An Oldham Athletic youth graduate, Coleman signed a two-year scholarship with the club in 2012. On 18 June 2014 he signed his first professional deal with the club, penning a two-year deal. Coleman made his first team debut on 18 March 2015, coming on as a second half substitute for Jake Kean in a 1–3 League One home loss against MK Dons.
