Career
Bryde"s whale is named after him. He founded a shipping company in Sandefjord in 1890. Bryde is also known as owner of the factories Gimle Oljemølle and Jotun.
Both went bankrupt in 1925.
Jotun was famously resurrected by townsfellow Odd Gleditsch, Senior, who founded Jotun Kemiske Fabrik in 1926. Bryde died in 1925.
