Career
He belonged to the moderate wing who in 1975 rebelled against the political independence of Pengel"s successor Henck Arron. After the military coup on December 24, 1990 (known as the "telephone coup"), Kraag was chosen by the Assembly as Acting President of Suriname. He was succeeded by Ronald Venetiaan.
