Career
He has been married for many years to Rasa Bertrand, whom he met as a student. Bertrand is currently the chairman of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame & The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, named after Alannah & Madeline Mikac, who were murdered in the Portuguese Arthur massacre. Following the 2nd Test in Sydney in 2007 between India and Australia, Bertrand criticised the Australian cricket team, saying their attitude was damaging international relations.
He is also the President of Swimming Australia.
