John Edward BINGHAM, British Warden.
Education
Studied at Bramham College, Yorkshire, honorary Colonel of West Riding Divisional R.E., and commanded 1st West Yorkshire R.E. (Vols.) for 17 years. Master Cutler of Sheffield, 1SS1-S2 and 1883-1884.
Career
Head of the firm of Walker and Hall of Sheffield, silver, cutlery, and electro - plate manufacturers. Pays old age pensions, free of any contribution by his workpeople. President of the U. Hallam Conservative Association.
Inaugurate and President of the Sheffield and Rotherham Crimean and Indian Veterans' Relief Association. Twelve years Vice-Chairman of the National Fair Trade League. Still President for Sheffield.
Founder and Life President of the Sheffield Society for the Encouragement of Bravery. President of the Yorkshire Vol. Battalion Team Association, and the Yorkshire Field Firing Association.
Inaugurated and carried out Sheffield Exhibition, 1880. Was Final Referee for the Inventions Exhibition (London), 1885. Commercial Representative for England at the Brussels Exhibition, 1897.
Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden of the West Riding of Yorkshire. President of National Sendee League (Sheffield), of Sheffield and District Rifle Association, and of Northern Council of Church Association. 1st Baronet; cartulary-register 1903; Justice of the Peace, Volunteer Officers' Decoration.
