Professor pastoral theology Princeton Theological Seminary, 1836-1838. Secretary, general agent American Board Foreign Missions, 1838-1840. President Oglethorpe (Georgia) U., 1841.

Noted for controversialist religious debates with Review John Hughes (archbishop of New York).
