Studied at Grammar School and University, Aberdeen. Middlesex Hospital; University of Vienna. Master of Arts; Doctor of Medicine.
Doctor of Laws.
After graduation in London, spent some time on Continent. On return engaged in pathological research under Sanderson and Klein. Joined Charing Cross Hospital, and taught, first physiology and pathulog3r, then materia medica aod medicine, and was Dean of the School.
Engaged in medical literature on Medical Times and Gazette, later as co-editor of The Practitioner, and assistant editor of Quain’s Dictionary. Has been Examiner in Universities of London and Cambridge, the Victoria University, and Royal College of Physicians. For 20 years physician to Brompton Hospital.
Was Honourable Secretary of Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society. President of Medical Section, Royal Society of Medicine. Member, Royal Institution. Consulting Phy sician, King Edward VII. Sanatorium, Midhurst, (’haring Cross Hospital, Queen Alexandra’s Military Hospital, London, and Brompton Hospital.
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London). Clubs: Athemeum, Caledonian.
