Deane was the only son of William Deane of Great Maplestead, Essex.

He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford on 24 October 1595, aged 12 and was awarded Bachelor on 8 November 1600. In 1600, he became a student of law at Lincoln"s Inn. He was knighted on 11 May 1603.
He was a Justice of the Peace for Essex from 1607 until his death and was appointed High Sheriff of Essex for 1610-1611.
Deane died at the age of about 42 and was interred in Great Maplestead church.
In 1621, he was elected Member of Parliament for Essex.
