• He married Caroline Hawes, granddaughter of William Hawes, notable as founder of the Royal Humane Society, and was the daughter of Benjamin Hawes, notable for sponsoring Marc Brunel, sister of Benjamin Hawes, and so sister-in-law to Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
