John Marlborough East was a British actor, publicist, and author. He also was a radio and television broadcaster.
Background
John Marlborough East was born on September 10, 1860, in London, England, United Kingdom. East came from a family of actors and theater managers. East considered Max Miller, vaudeville comedian and a friend of East's parents, to be a second father because the comedian often looked after him during summers.
Career
Inspired by Miller's stories of his own career, East went into show business as a teenager, beginning with vaudeville and pantomime acts and eventually becoming a radio presenter in the 1960s. As a television actor in the late 1960s and 1970s, he appeared on such a British comedy series as On the Bases and The Fosters.
In 1972 John founded a public relations company that primarily worked for nightclub entertainers. East wrote about his actor family in 'Neath the Mask: The Story of the East Family', which was followed by his Miller biography ten years later.
