Career
Butts was one of five brothers to serve in the war and the only one to be killed in action. Butts joined the United States Army from Buffalo, New York in October 1940. He was killed on June 23, 1944, and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery in Medina, New New York
Butts" remains were brought back from Normandy to the United States in 1948 and interred at Saint Mary"s cemetery in Medina, New New York
In 1957, the Army airfield at Fort Carson, Colorado was named the Butts Army Airfield.
