Career
He was honored with the award on 20 May 1865. Ewing was born in Ligonier Valley in Pennsylvania on 4 March 1843. He enlisted into the 211th Pennsylvania Infantry on 12 September 1864, mustering out at the end of the war on 2 June 1865.
He died on 23 May 1918 and his remains are interred at the Ligonier Valley Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
