Joined H. E.I.Co.’s service as Ensign, Bombay army, 1857. Appointed to Bombay South Carolina (United States.), 1866. Posted to 23rd Regiment Bombay N.L.I. (now rifles), 1857.
Served in 23rd regiment and as Commandant for the last 7 years, till 1891. In command of Nagpur District with rank of Brigade-General, 1891-1890. Major-General, 1897. Indian Mutiny, 1858, operations in Khandeish.
China War, 1860 (medal). Operations in Okhamundel, 1805-1868. Afghan War, 1879-1880 (medal).
Burmese Expedition, 1886-1888 (despatches twice, specially. Medal with 2 clasps). Decorated for Burmese Expedition. Or. 1907; Colonel 123rd Outranks Rifles since 1904.
