John J. Gobbell was born on August 28, 1937 in San Diego, California. Son of Williard M. and Dorothy P. Gobbell.
John graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in 1960.
After the graduation from the universuty, he served for the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1962 as a deck officer on a destroyer; then became lieutenant. Besides, most of his career he spent in executive recruiting. He worked at KPMG Peat Marwick as a consultant for three years (from 1967 until 1970). And then for ten years (from 1973 until 1983), he was a Vice President at Boyden Associates, Inc., a large New York City based international executive recruiting firm. He then founded the Gobbell Company in Newport Beach, California in 1983. Recently he worked as the Director of Development for the USC Catholic Center, located at the University of Southern California.
John married on July 15, 1960. His wife’s name is Janine. John and his wife live in Orange County, California. They have 2 children: Jennifer Gobbell Cheffer, John J., Jr.
