In December 1991, John Goldwyn was named President of Production for Paramount"s Motion Picture Group. In 1997, Goldwyn was promoted to the newly created post of President, Motion Pictures and signed to a five-year contract. In 2006 Goldwyn served as an executive producer for the Showtime drama series Dexter.
He remained with the series as an executive producer for five seasons.
In an interview with Howard Stern, comedian Louis CK claimed that, in a business meeting, Goldwyn angrily condemned him and the other creators of the film Pootie Tang for wasting his money, and shut down an attempt by the president of Music Television Films to defend the work.
