The young man settled at Chicago and began his career as draftsman in the office of Treat & Foltz, where he worked for nearly eight years, then started practice for himself. In the following years Mr. Hetherington planned many and varied types of buildings in Chicago and environs, among which were the State Bank of West Pelham, 1921; Austin Christian Church, 1925; Cheltenham, 1927; two churches in Englewood, the First Reformed, 1915 and the Third Reformed, 1920; buildings and grounds of Ridge Park, West Pelham and West Brainard, in 1910, 1915 and 1935, and a number of residences and commercial buildings.
