Franklin orthodontist Jim Davis defeated Snow in 2010 by a margin of 199 votes. Snow was subject to a direct-mail campaign, funded in part by businessman Art Pope. In 2012, Snow ran in a re-match with Jim Davis to return to his former seat in the Senate. He was defeated by a substantial margin of 12,548 votes by the incumbent Republican, Davis. John Snow Junior. was also a standout on the gridiron prior to his career in politics. A defensive tackle for Wake Forest University, Snow was drafted in the 15th round of the 1967 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
