Career
Born in Cork, Kerins first excelled at Gaelic football during his schooling at Coláiste Chríost Rí. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1983-1984 league.
He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions.
At club level he was a one-time All-Ireland medallist with Saint Finbarr"son Throughout his career Kerins made 35 championship appearances.
He retired from inter-county football following the conclusion of the 1994 championship. In retirement from playing Kerins became involved in team management and coaching.
He served as coach of the Saint Finbarr"s minor and senior teams, guiding the former to championship success.
