He graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary (Bachelor's Degree), Westminster Theological Seminary (Master of Theology), and Temple University (Doctor of Philosophy). After pastoring a church in Los Angeles, he returned to of Korea to serve as president of Calvin University and Chongshin University.
