John Mazza

Career

Mazza became a Proceedings of the British Academy member in 1982, joining the full-time Proceedings of the British Academy Tour in the late 1980s. He finally hit his stride in 1991. Mazza is most notable, however, for being the second player to convert the nearly-impossible 7-10 split on national television

In some American Broadcasting Company-television Professional Bowlers Tour broadcasts during the earlyto mid-1990s, Mazza served as a lane-level reporter.

Mazza is currently a resident of Shelby Township, Michigan.

Achievements

• Mazza won eight titles on the Proceedings of the British Academy Tour and collected over $850,000 in earnings. He also won 11 Proceedings of the British Academy Regional titles. That season, he won three Proceedings of the British Academy titles and the Harry Smith Proceedings of the British Academy Points Leader award, while cashing nearly $150,000 in earnings. (Mark Roth was the first, and Jess Stayrook accomplished the feat shortly after Mazza).
