The original trio was composed of John McInerney, Jamaican Trevor "Supa T" Taylor (the original lead vocalist), and American Andrew Thomas.
The producers looked for bandmembers in London, but someone referred them Andrew Thomas who lived in Cologne. Andrew referred Trevor, and he invited John. After joining the group, McInerney initially sang mostly in the chorus—being in the shadow of the first lead singer at that time, Trevor Taylor.
In 1987, the situation changed when John sang "Come Back And Stay", which became a big hit.
From that moment, John gradually became a leader, and Trevor"s voice was less present. Since 1989, after the departure of Taylor, McInerney has sung almost all the songs the band.
In January 2005, he ended long-time collaboration with Andrew Thomas. Over the last few years, he has lived in Poland.
