Commanded Her Majesty Submarines Totem, Alaric, Tradewind, Tactician, Telemachus. Registered Nurse staff course 1950-1951. Commander 1957; attached to Turkish Naval Staff 1958-1960.
Subsequently Plans Division, Admiralty, 1st Submarine Squadron, then 7th Submarine Squadron in command.
Captain 1967; served as Chief of Staff, Commander in Chief Naval Home Command, Defence Intelligence Staff. Retd, list at own request 1972.
Professor, of Institute Relations, Aberdeen University 1987.
