He was sworn in as High Sheriff of Gloucestershire in November 1591 and was Justice of the Peace in 1592. He was knighted before 1593. He was Lord of the Manor of Iron Acton.
Pointz died insolvent and intestate in 1633 and was buried at Iron Acton.
Pointz married firstly Ursula Sidenham of Brampton, Somerset, and secondly Elizabeth Sydenham daughter of Alexander Sydenham.
Membership
In 1593, he was elected Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire.
