Early life, education and ordination
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Gorman was ordained a priest for the Chicago Archdiocese on May 1, 1956. Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago
On February 16, 1988, he was appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago and Titular Bishop of Catula by Pope John Paul World War II He received his episcopal consecration on April 11, 1988 from the Archbishop of Chicago, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, and served as Auxiliary Bishop and Episcopal Vicar under Cardinal Bernardin and his successor, the present Archbishop Emeritus of Chicago, Francis Eugene Cardinal George. Gorman"s retirement was accepted by Pope John Paul II on January 24, 2003.
