He represented Charlotte County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1850 to 1854. Robinson served in the Royal Navy from 1824 to 1845, retiring as captain. He also maintained a home at Surrey in England.
Robinson was named to the Legislative Council of New Brunswick in 1856.
