Mr. Rossi was born in Washington, District of Columbia, United States, on November 4, 1955. He is a son of Roscoe A. (an anesthesiologist) and Rosalind (a homemaker) Rossi.
John V. Rossi graduated from State University of New York at Albany, obtaining his Bachelor of Science (cum laude) in 1977. In 1981 he earned Master of Arts from University of South Florida. In 1986 he finished his education at University of Florida with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Mr. Rossi worked as a veterinarian at Blanding Animal Hospital, Jacksonville, FL, from 1986 to 1994. Since 1994 he was appointed veterinarian at Baywood Animal Hospital, Jacksonville. Between 1994 and 1995 Mr. Rossi held the post of a professor of vertebrate biology at Jacksonville University. He was a director of North American Snake Institute. John V. Rossi served as consulting veterinarian for the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History, and the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.
