Formerly director of the First Security Corporation, Ogden, Utah. Was mayor of Gooding. Chairman Idaho Republican State Committee, 1922-1924.
Member Republican National Committee since 1925. Appointed member United States Senate, June 30, 1928, for unexpired term of Senator F. R. Gooding, deceased. Elected to same office, November 1928, for unexpired term ending March 3, 1933, again elected to fill unexpired term of William E. Borah, ending 1943.
