John Thompson

Career

Thompson ran for a seat in the 1975 Alberta general election. Thompson ran for a second term in office in the 1979 Alberta general election. The race in that district was hotly contested with challenging Social Cr candidate Broyce Jacobs nearly defeating him.

Thompson ran for a third term in office in the 1982 Alberta general election.

Thompson did not run for a fourth term and retired at dissolution of the legislature in 1986.

Achievements

• He won the electoral district of Cardston to pick it up for the governing Progressive Conservative party. He improved his vote margin to win another hotly contested race, this time the challenging candidate was Steve Pinchak of the Western Canada Concept.

Membership

He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1975 to 1986.
