He served as county judge for Lafayette County, Wisconsin and then District Attorney. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1877 and in the Wisconsin State Senate 1881-1882. He was president of the Blackstone Mining Company.
He died in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
His father was John Wilford Blackstone, Senior who served in the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature.
