Throughout his life Causey engaged in agricultural pursuits, especially resuming them after political pursuits. He was also president of an insurance company. President Cleveland appointed him an internal-revenue collector for Delaware in 1885 and served until 1887.
He was elected as a Democrat to the 52nd and 53rd Congress from March 4, 1891 until March 4, 1895, but was not a candidate for renomination in 1894.
Causey died at Milford and is buried there in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Elections are held the first Tuesday after November 1.

He was a member of the Democratic Party, who served as United States Representative from Delaware. He was elected a member of the State Senate for 1875–1877 and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1884.
