Career
After graduating from South Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Young attended the University of South Dakota. During World World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corps. Young was married and had three children.
Young was elected to the Assembly in 1978.
He was a Republican.

Previously, he was a member of the Brookfield, Wisconsin Common Council from 1972 to 1978, serving as President from 1976 to 1978.
