Began practice at Wytheville, Virginia, 1890. Deputy clerk and librarian, Supreme Court of Virginia, 1890-1893. Moved to Spokane, Washington, 1900, to Goldfield, Nevada, 1904.
District attorney Nye Company, Nevada, 1911-1916. Became associate justice of Supreme Court of Nevada, 1917. Chief justice, 1921-1922.
Reelected November 1928 for term of 6 years. Chief justice, 1933-1934, retired from bench 1935. Now engaged in private practice of law and with mining interests.
